A retractable central vacuum hose that stores inside your walls. This Hide-A-Hose kit (HS402155WDIY) has everything to build one retractable inlet: a 6000 PRO valve, a 15.2 m (50 ft) RapidFlex hose, Hide-A-Hose sweep elbows, fittings and low-voltage wire. You pull out only as much hose as you need and lock it at that length. When you're done, the central vacuum's suction pulls the hose back into the pipe in the wall. It suits new construction and retrofits, and connects to an existing or new central vacuum power unit.

Key features
- Hose stores in the wall: no hose to carry, coil or keep in a closet. One 50 ft hose covers about 167–214 m² (1,800–2,300 sq ft) from a single inlet.
- Lock at any length: the 6000 PRO's push-and-pull lock holds the hose wherever you stop, so a quick clean-up doesn't mean pulling out all 50 ft.
- RapidFlex hose: a scratch-resistant hose that needs no sock. It is larger in diameter than Hide-A-Hose's SmartSoc hose, and its mini-cuff connects directly to a Ready Grip handle or cleaning tools.
- Mounts inside the stud: a three-point mounting system fastens the valve to the inside of the stud, and the magnetic door closes onto an enlarged seal.
- Serviceable: the low-voltage wires connect directly to the switch on the door. Hide-A-Hose says the moving parts can be replaced without tools and without removing the valve from the wall.

Before you buy
- You also need a central vacuum power unit, 2 in central vacuum pipe with PVC cement, and a handle with cleaning tools. None of these are in the kit.
- The pipe must be long enough to store the whole hose. Hide-A-Hose's guide says not to join a hose run to another pipe run until you have more pipe than hose (for example, at least 13.4 m / 44 ft of pipe for a 40 ft hose). Only Hide-A-Hose sweep 90°, 45° and 22.5° fittings may be used in the section that stores the hose. Hide-A-Hose recommends no more than four 90° bends per valve.
- Longer hoses reduce airflow, so Hide-A-Hose recommends a larger power unit for longer hose runs. Check that your power unit is strong enough, especially for runs that go up two floors.
- The trim door fits walls up to 25 mm (1 in) thick. Thicker walls need the 19 mm (¾ in) door extension kit (HS600051), sold separately.
- Hide-A-Hose's installation guide assumes experience installing central vacuum systems, and says to use only Hide-A-Hose parts in the hose run. It also recommends testing the system before drywall goes up.

Frequently asked questions
What type of central vacuum power unit is recommended for retractable hoses?
Because the vacuum suction is used to pull the 50-foot hose back into the wall pipe, a high-suction central vacuum unit delivering at least 120 to 135 inches of water lift (such as Cana-Vac or similar) is recommended.
What is the RapidFlex hose design?
The RapidFlex hose features a durable, scratch-resistant braided fabric jacket that protects baseboards, furniture legs, and hardwood floors from friction marks as the hose glides across rooms.
Can the hose be locked at partial lengths during use?
Yes. The patented inlet valve door features an integrated cam-lock lever that securely locks the hose at any intermediate length (e.g. 15 ft, 25 ft, or 50 ft).
Can the valve door be painted to match wall colors?
Yes. The textured surface of the white ABS trim door is formulated to accept interior latex wall paint, allowing the valve cover to blend discreetly into interior drywall.
How does the system turn the central vacuum on and off?
The system can be operated using a low-voltage switch at the inlet valve door or an optional wireless RF handle with a transmitter that signals the vacuum power unit wirelessly.
Can Hide-A-Hose be retrofitted into existing homes?
Yes. Hide-A-Hose can be installed in existing homes through unfinished basement joists, interior closets, or attic spaces with access to partition wall cavities.
