A 1.85 HP variable-speed pool pump that runs on 115 V or 230 V. The Hayward TriStar® VS 900 (SP32900VSP) is a variable-speed pump for inground pools across Ontario, built on Hayward's TriStar housing with a permanent-magnet motor and a Viton® pump seal. It runs from 600 to 3,450 RPM on its own built-in timers, or under the control of Hayward or third-party pool automation. A second base is included so it lines up with an existing Pentair® WhisperFlo® for easier replacement.

Before you buy
- Hayward specifies installation and service by a qualified professional. Connect the pump to a 15 A branch circuit on 230 V or a 20 A circuit on 115 V, with GFCI protection, and provide a disconnect at least 1.5 m (5 ft) from the inside wall of the pool.
- For Canadian installations, Hayward specifies a No. 6 AWG solid copper bonding conductor.
- Size your plumbing for the flow: Hayward recommends no more than 300 L/min (80 US gpm) on 2 in pipe, 415 L/min (110 US gpm) on 2.5 in and 600 L/min (160 US gpm) on 3 in, with a straight run of at least five pipe diameters before the pump inlet.
- There is no stand-alone phone app for this pump. App control requires a Hayward OmniLogic® controller (Omni app); otherwise you use the pump keypad.
- Hayward now lists SP32900VSPX1 (TriStar VS 900 with OmniX® and a new Universal Display) as the replacement SKU for SP32900VSP. Confirm which version will ship before ordering.

What is the capacity of the strainer basket?
The pump features an oversized, seamless no-rib strainer basket that holds substantial leaf and debris volume and includes a clear see-through Lexan cover with quick-release handles.
How do I winterize the Hayward TriStar VS pump?
Turn off electrical power at the breaker panel. Unscrew and remove the two drain plugs on the pump volute housing, store the drain plugs in the strainer basket, and drain all connecting pipe lines.
